Are you freakin kidding me? (Release Dates are Happy Times!)

Check this out.

EA Store announces (yet again) the release date for WAR.

Am I skeptical? Even though this is an image and not an easily changed text field? You betcha. August 23rd seems way too good to be true, and completely contradicts everything we’ve all been hearing for months now. Let’s think about the time-line this poses on us. We know the NDA can’t drop this week, and probably not next week (since they’re putting some change in next week and want current testers to respond to it, according to MBJ). That puts the NDA drop (and thus the Open Beta, at its *earliest*) the week that this site claims the release date to be. And Open Beta would be remarkably brief.

UNLESS this site is saying that Open Beta starts August 23rd. With new information that seems to claim WAR comes out mid Sept and not late Sept, this isn’t so implausible. Oh, how I both love and hate such gross speculation.

Conclusion: They are screwing with us. WAR is our cake, and the cake is a lie. Discuss.

P.S. I saw Dark Knight. It was amazing.

  1. I definitely think there could have been a little better control of the information – it’s all over the place. All they need is to say ‘soon’ instead of give dates, and say ‘late september’ to retailers or put an embargo on the information.

  2. I’m waiting for someone to give a release date of last month… while holding out hope that mid-September is the REAL date.

  3. From the 28th August, the regular edition of the game can be pre-ordered at 5€ (£3.97), and this special pre-order pack will entitle players to a key for ‘Live Game Head Start’ access ahead of the full commercial release on the 18th September, as well as bonus in-game items.
