Gameplay experience may change during online play.

Thanks, Syp, for posting the patch notes, which I saw myself this morning after patching. Here are the Archmage changes:

Storm of Chronos: The duration has been increased.
Feel the Winds: The duration has been increased.
Law of Age: The duration has been increased.
Cleansing Light: This ability now removes one Ailment of Hex from your target.
Storm of Chronos: The duration of this ability has been increased.
Feel the Winds: The duration of this ability has been increased.
Law of Age The duration of this ability has been increased. (sic)

It looks like a lot, but due to what is very obviously a large typographical error, it’s possible only four abilities have been touched. I should also point out that an increased duration on a DoT may increase the overall damage, but won’t increase damage-per-second (not in and of itself). If they lowered the damage to spread it out over more time, it could be the same dps…or lower. This isn’t what we were looking for (IMO), but perhaps one of our more archmage-math savvy readers will comment.

Possibly the repeat “Storm of Chronos, Feel the Winds, Law of Age” entries on my patch log are erroneous in another way…not full repeats, but mis-typed names. What I’m saying is, possibly three other abilities may have been touched upon. I noticed that our counterpart – the Shaman – has a nearly identical buff list with no repeats (or missing colons): six individual spells with their durations increased, and one ability buffed to remove a curse/ailment from a target).

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out Mark Jacob’s debut into the Warhammer blogosphere; you’ve probably already been there. They guy seems to get over 100 comments a post.

  1. I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t seem like a solution to our problems…. In fact, sounds to me it’s gotten worse, especially seeing as how the shaman got the same exact changes.

  2. None of those are DoTs :p

  3. Serves me right for not checking. *sheepish*
